Medhin Lewegn is a charitable organization based and registered in the State of Maryland, United State of America, USA established by group of friends in October 2020.

Members of our team are located in Washington, DC area who came together in response to the Covid 19 pandemic and economic crisis in Beirut, Lebanon. As the Beirut’s situation become worse mainly affecting our sisters, it was deemed vital to devise an emergency evacuation plan to bring them back to Ethiopia. With the personal investment of the members of the organizing team and the encouraging support of various donors, 105 sisters were evacuated and safely brought to their homeland, Ethiopia. As a follow up on this extraordinary achievement within short span of time, the two friends, Cherient Debelie & Zekaryas Araya-Medhin, founded Medhin Lewegen Inc. to continue the project on similar humanitarian missions

Our mission is to alleviate the suffering of our fellow citizens in time of distress during the time crisis.

መድኅን ለወገን በ2012 ዓ.ም. በዮናይትን ስቴትስ ሜሪላንድ ግዛት ተመስርቶ በህጋዊ መንገድ የተመዘገበ የበጎ አድራጎት ድርጅት ሲሆን የተቋቋመውም በቤሩት በደረሰውን የኢኮኖሚ ውድቀት ምላሽ በመስጠት ነው። መድኅን ለወገን ይህንን ቀውስን ተከትሎ ቤሩት ሊባኖስ በሚገኙ ወገኖቻችን ላይ የተከሰተውን እንግልት በመመልከት፤ በቸርነት ደበሌ እና በዘካሪያስ አርአያ መድህን አነሳሽነት በሰሜን አሜሪካና በተለያዩ የውጪ ሀገራች የሚገኙት ወገኖቻችንን በማስተባበር 105 እህቶቻችንን ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ለመመለስ ችለናል። የቤሩት ተመላሾችን ፕሮጀክት ስኬታማነት በመገንዘብ በዓለም ዙሪያ የሚገኙ ወገኖቻችንን በተፈጥሮም ሆነ የሰው ሰራሽ ችግር በሚደርስባቸው ወቅት ለመድረስ መድኅን ለወገንን ተመሰረተ።

ራዕያችን ለወገኖቻችችን በችግራቸው ወቅት በአስቸኳይ ደርሶ ከስቃይ መታደግ ነው።

Why are we here?

Medhin Lewegen envisions to facilitate better living condition to fellow Ethiopians in time of crisis and distress and ultimately reduce natural and man-made catastrophes in the country and all over the world.

መድኅን ለወገን ወገኖቻችን በሀገር ወይም በውጭ ሀገራት የተፈጥሮ እና ሰው ሰራሽ ችግሮች በሚደርስባቸው ወቅት በአስቸኳይ በመድረስ ህይወታቸውን ወደ ተሻለ ህይወት መስመር የሚሄዱበትን መንገድ ይቀይሳል።

Tribute to Late Board Member - Tesfaye Tessema

Brother Tesfaye was one of the founding Board Members fully committed to the cause of Medhin Lewegen.

He was actively involved in our first project, the evacuation of stranded sister in Beirut, Lebanon due to severe economic crisis and Covid-19 pandemic.

In his short yet fruitful involvement, Tesfaye’s contribution to the formatting of business plan and area of engagement will be remembered dearly by the Board Members and friends of Medhin Lewegen Inc.

We lost Tesfaye due to Covid-19 pandemic in January 2021.
